Basic structure
The software is generally installed on a local computer and uses Microsoft Access databases for data storage. However the software can also be used on a Citrix Terminal Server. Currently the software manages three brands of the company where it is installed. Each of this brands has an own price list, as they are producing different products. The software uses a powerful template system for creating the price lists. The templates are also using a keyword system for getting data dynamically.Follwing figure shows a page from a price catalogue
The software also implements modules for increasing or decreasing the prices by assigning factors to single products, a product group or on a global level. When normalizing a price list the users create a new base for the full price list. The software allows to create example of orders, customer specific list or reports about the current or past prices on a product or product group level. Various import and export filters permits the user to easily import and share data (for example from SAP exports). The main language of the software is English, however it is not a problem to use more languages, as the resources are hold in XML files.
Printing
Excel Sharp PRL includes a module for directly printing and merging single pages to PDF files. However, Adobe Acrobat has to be licensed and installed to use this features. Alternatively the use of some free PDF creators is supported.As mentionned before, a powerful template system permits to create different layouts and data sources for the price list. Keywords are acting as placeholders for dynamic data.
