Excel Sharp SNR is a solution for creating and managing serial numbers for produced machines. The software also creates the labels, which are then printed and sticked on the machines. These labels contains several data like the weight, the serial number or company specific codes. The labels must obey international standards. The software also implements several export and import interfaces. For example, the created database entries will be saved as CSV files on a central network server, from where they are imported to other systems.
The software will be installed on several productions plants of the group. PS: the software contains parts of the code mentionned in our blog article about "List printers and paper formats in Excel VBA" (this article is currently only available in German, but will be translated as soon as possible).
Basic structure
The software has to be locally installed on the target computers as Excel does not support multiple access to the Add-Ins. Excel 2003 or higher must be available. The software knows about different user groups, which are setup by the license key. For example, the production staff only gets access to the serial number generator, managers have access to more modules and can, for example, import new machine models or add new label types.
